Hello!

Welcome to Saint Laurence! Whether you're only here for a short period of time, or whether you're looking to make this your new spiritual home, you are more than welcome!

Despite being here since 1196, Saint Laurence has undergone a massive overhaul since the beginning of the millennium. As soon as Rev Cannon Chris Russell (a.k.a. Rev) became vicar, Saint Lols (genuine nickname) began its mission to see non churched young people come to faith and to build new forms of church with them.

Services

We currently have one all age service from 2pm - 3:30pm every Sunday, with Children's groups for those in primary school. We regularly have refreshments available after the service. Anyone is welcome to arrive early to pitch in with setting up before the service, and we always pray about 15 minutes beforehand, which again, all are invited to come to.

During holiday seasons, service times may change, and details are available from the website and through our Facebook group (saint laurence reading).

On occasion we record podcasts of services or particular events.

On the first Sunday of each month, we  have special Sundays where we share lunch before the service. Notice of this is given in our weekly newsletters and during the preceding service. Extra services and activities are held over the Easter and Christmas periods.

PARKING

On a Sunday we have the use of free parking in the underground car park behind Carluccio's restaurant on Forbury Square. When you drive up to the gate, press the button on the intercom and tell them you are with St Laurence Church.

As the car park has very kindly been offered to us free of charge, we would ask that you don’t use this parking for anything other than services.

Youth Work

Because of our mission statement, a lot of what is done here is very youth orientated, including youth groups, schools work, and youth weekends away, all of which is overseen by our Youth Work Director Chris West (aka Westy) and Lead Youth Worker Lois Archer.

If you are interested in our youth work, do check out the Youth Work notice board, which explains the work and activities we do. If you have any thoughts or want to get involved with any of the youth work please speak with Westy or Lois.

We are also very fortunate to have a Youth Counsellor working with us. Her name is Zanelle and you'll find more information on what she is doing on the notice board.

Church Activites

If you are not a young person (or don't own one), we would still love you to come along and get involved with the things we do for adults.

We have a range of Small Groups that meet at homes across Reading every two weeks to share food, thoughts, and reflections on God. If you would like to know more or get involved with any of our small groups, please speak with Lee or Nett Smith (details on the Notice Board).

We also have social get togethers and adult worship spaces on a regular basis, as well as some more ad-hoc activities throughout the year (such as Church Camp and Momentum).

If you would like to learn more about these opportunities, check out our Facebook group and e-Rev/e-Youth.

GETTING IN TOUCH

If you would like to be added to e-Rev, please email Claire, our office manager, or sign up on the Home Page.

The Notice Board next to the kitchen is a fountain of useful info, contact details, and dates.

If what you're looking for isn't on there, feel free to grab a member of staff, pick a member of the congregation (none of them bite), or email our office manager on admin@stlreading.org. The office is manned all day on Monday and Tuesday and the morning of Wednesday.
